Grade 5 Second Semester Final Exam
English Exam
Date: Tuesday, 16th June, Periods 1 & 2
40% Grammar:
Review Resources - For the grammar section of the test, students should review their Grammar quizzes, review worksheets and Enter the World of Grammar 2 textbook. The areas to be tested are:
Unit 15 Possessives p.104-109
Unit 16 Question Tags p.110-113
Unit 17 Conditional Sentence Type 1 p.114-118
Unit 18 Past Perfect Simple p.119-123
Unit 20 Do ~ Make p. 131-134
10% Creative Writing:
Students must write a 3-4 paragraph persuasive text. They will be given 2 topics to choose from. The introduction must include a hook and a thesis statement, and the body of the essay must include reasons and descriptions relating to the text and examples supporting the author’s point of view. The essay will be graded according to content, organization, grammar and creativity. (Students must not go over the word limit)
40% Reading (25% Journey’s, 5% Reading Novel, and 10% unseen)
Students will read a short passage and answer questions based on the text. Students will be graded on comprehension skills, spelling and grammar. Students will also be tested on
Short questions will be based on these texts.
10% Vocabulary:
Review Resource: Vocabulary Quizzes / Language Handbook L23 – L30.
Students will be tested on a selection of vocabulary words taught from L22-L30. A word bank will be provided from which students choose a suitable word to complete sentences.

Date: Wednesday, 17th June, Periods 1 & 2

Unit 9 Ecosystem p.87-98
Unit 11 Pollution p.121-130
Students will answer questions based on concepts from the above two units. They will also be required to complete sentences with vocabulary provided in word banks.
Math
Review Resources – My Pal are Here Maths 5B
Chapter 11 Average p.73-80
Students should understand how to calculate averages and apply this concept to solve related problems.
Chapter 12 Rate p.85- 97
Students should be familiar with the concept of rate and be able to solve simple rate problems.
Chapter 13 Angels p.102 –110
Students should be familiar with angle relationships and be able to find unknown angles using angle rules.
Chapter 14 Triangles p.115-130
Students should be familiar with different types of triangles and be able to find unknown angles.
Chapter 15 Quadrilaterals p.139-150
Students should be familiar with quadrilaterals (parallelograms, rhombuses, and trapeziums) and be able to find unknown angles in quadrilaterals.
