Grade 5 Second Semester Final Exam

English Exam

Date: Wednesday, 11^th June, Periods 1 & 2

40% Grammar:

Review Resources - For the grammar section of the test, students should review their Grammar quizzes, review worksheets and Enter the World of Grammar 2 textbook. The areas to be tested are:

1.       Unit 15 Possessives p.104-109

2.       Unit 16 Question Tags p.110-113

3.       Unit 17 Conditional Sentence Type 1 p.114-118

4.       Unit 18 Past Perfect Simple p.119-123

5.       Unit 20 Do ~ Make p. 131-134

10% Creative Writing:

Students must write a personal narrative consisting of 3–4 paragraphs. They will be given two topics to choose from. The introduction must include a hook and a thesis statement. The body of the essay should include descriptions of personal experiences and examples that relate to the chosen topic. Essays will be graded based on content, organization, grammar, and creativity. Students must not exceed the word limit.

40% Reading (30% Journey’s, 10% unseen)

Students will read a short passage and answer questions based on the text. Students will be graded on comprehension skills, spelling and grammar. Students will also be tested on

10% Vocabulary:

Review Resource: Vocabulary Quizzes / Language Handbook L22 – L30.

Students will be tested on a selection of vocabulary words taught from L22-L30. A word bank will be provided from which students choose a suitable word to complete sentences.

 

Science and Math Exam

Date: Thursday, 12^th June, Periods 1 & 2

Science

Review Resources – My Pals are Here Science Book 5A

1.       Unit 9 Ecosystem p.87-98

2.       Unit 11 Pollution p.121-130

Students will answer questions based on concepts from the above two units. They will also be required to complete sentences with vocabulary provided in word banks.

Math

Chapter 14 Volume

1.       Lesson 2: Volume of a Cuboid and of Liquid p.126 -131

2.       Lesson 3: Cubes and Cuboid p. 132-138

3.       Lesson 4: Problem Solving p.139-144  

Students should understand how to find the volume of cuboids and liquid measurements. They must also be able to convert the volume of a cuboid into liquid units to solve related problems.

Chapter 8 Percent

5.       Lesson 2: Expressing Fractions as Percents p.42-49

6.       Lesson 3: Percentage of a Quantity p.50-56

Students should understand how to find percentages of decimals and fractions. They must also be able to calculate the percentage of different quantities in order to solve related problems.

Chapter 9 Average          

7.       Lesson 1: Understanding Average p.57-66

8.       Lesson 2: Problem Solving p.67-71

Students should understand how to calculate averages and apply this concept to solve related problems.
