English Exam

Date: Thursday, 26th December, Periods 1 & 2

40% Grammar:

Review Resources - For the grammar section of the test, students should review their Grammar quizzes, review worksheets and Enter the World of Grammar 2 textbook. The areas to be tested are:

1.      Unit 5: Adverbs – Comparison of Adverbs p.33-39

2.      Unit 6 Question Words – Subject / Object Questions p.40-45

3.      Unit 7 Nouns – Some / Any / No / Every / One / Ones p.46-52

4.      Unit 8 Present Perfect Simple p.59-64

5.      Unit 9 Past Simple - Present Perfect Simple p. 65-69

20% Creative Writing:

Students must write a 3-4 paragraph persuasive text. They will be given 2 topics to choose from. The introduction must include a hook and a thesis statement, and the body of the essay must include reasons and descriptions relating to the text and examples supporting the author’s point of view. The essay will be graded according to content, organization, grammar and creativity. (Students must not go over the word limit) 

30% Reading:

Students will read a short passage and answer questions based on the text. Students will be graded on comprehension skills, spelling and grammar. Students will also be tested on
