Test Scope for 3rd Exam Semester 2

 

Grade 5 - 3rd Exam - 2nd Semester Test Scope 2024



English

English on Wednesday, 12 June - Periods 1 and 2


Grammar 50%

For all grammar exercises, students should review their Grammar book; Enter the World of Grammar 2 textbook and Grammar quizzes in Test book as well as the review worksheets.  The areas to be tested are as follows:

  • Unit 17 - 1st Conditionals pg. 114 – 118

  • Unit 18 - Past Perfect Simple pg. 119 – 123

  • Unit 20 - Do and Make pg. 131-134

  

Vocabulary 10%

For review resources refer to Vocabulary Book:  Lesson 26 – Lesson 30, Homework books and weekly vocab quizzes. Students have to select a word from a word bank and put it into a sentence.


Reading 20%

Students will answer Journey’s questions based on Journeys (softback edition) 

  • L26 (The Long Flight) 

  • L28 (The Many Faces of Rolling Hills)

  • L30 (Stonehenge: A Riddle) 

Students will also be graded on comprehension skills based on an as yet unread text. Spelling and grammar mistakes will affect grades.


Creative Writing 20%

The essay must be 3-4 paragraphs (200 – 250 words in length) Students will be required to write a descriptive essay or an expository essay.  Essays must be creative and include a topic, clear introduction, body and conclusion. Students will be graded on content, organization and grammar of the essay. Topics are not provided beforehand.

Math


Review Resources – Prime Mathematics Course Workbook B 

Students will be tested on the methods and formulas learned in this Unit. Students must review; 

  • Chapter 8 Lesson 1: Percent pg. 37-41

  • Chapter 8 Lesson 2: Expressing Fraction as Percent pg.42-49

  • Chapter 8 Lesson 3: Percent of a Quantity pg. 50-56

  • Chapter 9 Lesson 1: Understanding Average pg. 57 - 66 


Make sure you understand the steps you need to take to complete a problem. READ the word problems carefully!
