503B Test Scope for Sem 2 Exam 2

 

Grade 5 - 2nd Semester

2nd Exam Test Scope 2024

 

Regular Class

 

Dates of Tests:

English on Wednesday, 8 May - Periods 1 and 2

Science and Math on Thursday, 9 May - Periods 1 and 2

 

English

 

Grammar 50%

For all grammar exercises, students should review their Grammar book; Enter the World of Grammar 2 textbook and Grammar quizzes in Test book as well as the review worksheets.  The areas to be tested are as follows:

·       Unit 14 Modals 2 Pg. 93 -98

·       Unit 15 Possessives Pg. 104-109

·       Unit 16 Question tags Pg. 110 - 113.

Vocabulary 10%

For review resources refer to Vocabulary Book (L21 to 25), Homework books and weekly vocab quizzes. Students have to select a word from a word bank and put it into a sentence.

Reading 20%

Students will answer Journey’s questions based on Journeys (softback edition) L21 On the Beckwourth Trail, L23 The Cattle Drive, and L25 Protector of the Wilderness. Students will also be graded on comprehension skills based on an as yet unread text. Spelling and grammar mistakes will affect grades.

Creative Writing 20%

Students must write 3-4 paragraphs (250-300 words) based on a persuasive writing. Essays must be creative and include an interesting topic, clear introduction, body and conclusion. Students will be graded on content, organization, creativity of essay and grammar. Topics are not provided beforehand.

 

 

Science

 

Review Resources: My Pals are Here Science Book 5A

Unit 10  – Adaptations Pg. 100-119

Students will be asked to explain the factors of adaptions. As well as giving short answers on relevant topics.

 

Math

 

Review Resources – Prime Mathematics Course Workbook B

Students will be tested on the methods and formulas learned in the following lessons. Students must review:

·         Ch11, L1 Area of triangles. Pg. 85-94

·         Ch11, L2 Area of Parallelograms and Rhombuses. Pg. 95-100

·         Ch14, L2 Volume of Cuboid and Liquid Pg. 126-131

·         Ch14, L3 Finding length of a cube and height of water Pg. 132-138

·         Ch14, L4 Problem solving. Pg.139-144.

 

Makes sure you understand the steps you need to take to complete a problem. READ the word problems carefully!
