Overview of Week 5

 Hi parents,

English exams are next week!

This week for creative writing we wrote an essay on tradition. Usually students have to write about a certain tradition, but this time they wrote about any of their own traditions that they want or have.

For science, we reviewed ecosystems.

For math, we finished the curriculum up to page 36. Math was a lot.

For grammar, we learned Modals 1. They learned how to use can, could, would and will.

For journeys, we read a story about children with disabilities going to a horse farm to heal. This intrigued a lot of students considering they have never heard of this.

I have given out the review worksheets. I will give out the answers and post the answers online on Monday.

Thank you!

Mr. Richard

Overview of Week 4

 Hi parents,

This week for creative writing we wrote about school in the future. They had to imagine the future and what it would look like.

For science, we finished with ecosystems. They have done the self-check.

For math, we have finished with dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. Next week they will learn multiplication with decimals, conversions and word problems.

For grammar, we finished with articles. They had a quiz on it this week because we missed at week in the beginning of school.

We read a story about a student who wanted to convert the school basketball court into a garden for the homeless in hardcover journeys.

In softcover journeys we read about Sojourner Truth and her struggles.

Have a good weekend,

Mr. Richard

Overview of Week 3

 Hi parents,

This week for Journeys we read about students at school. Their task was to make a magazine for a school project.

For science, we continued with ecosystems. The first few pages were taught last semester, but I'm sure they forgot. Hence, I started from the beginning again.

For grammar, we reviewed L11 reflexive and emphatic pronouns. They had a quiz this week.

For math, we started on multiplying by 10s, 100s and 1000s. This was relatively easy for them. They just had to move decimals.

We didn't have creative writing this week because of the holiday on Monday.

Have a good weekend!

Mr. Richard
