Summer Vacation Homework (2026)

Dear Students of Class 5,
It’s time for a fun-filled and relaxing summer break. However, during the long scorching summer months, whether traveling or staying at home, time must be spent meaningfully and interestingly so that you keep in touch with school work and have lots of fun. The teachers have worked upon some fun ways of keeping you busy!
Therefore, the topic of your homework is:
“Talk about your favorite sport”
Make a poster on A3 size paper or bigger. Include lots of images and don’t forget to mention:
• What is your favorite sport?
• How did you first know about it?
• How often do you practice it?
• Explain why it is your favorite sport.
Due on first day of school year: August 31, 2026

40% Grammar:

Review Resources - For the grammar section of the test, students should review their Grammar quizzes, review worksheets and Enter the World of Grammar 2 textbook. The areas to be tested are:

1. Unit 15 Possessives p.104-109

3. Unit 17 Conditional Sentence Type 1 p.114-118

10% Creative Writing:

Students must write a 3-4 paragraph persuasive text. They will be given 2 topics to choose from. The introduction must include a hook and a thesis statement, and the body of the essay must include reasons and descriptions relating to the text and examples supporting the author’s point of view. The essay will be graded according to content, organization, grammar and creativity. (Students must not go over the word limit)  

40% Reading (25% Journey’s, 5% Reading Novel, and 10% unseen)

Students will read a short passage and answer questions based on the text. Students will be graded on comprehension skills, spelling and grammar. Students will also be tested on
